Nat Baker announces candidacy for Mayor of Horn Lake

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NAT BAKER, FORMER MAYOR AND LAW ENFORCEMENT VETERAN, ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR OF HORN LAKE

Promises to bring unmatched leadership and qualifications to secure and strengthen Horn Lake from day one.

Horn Lake, MS (February 12, 2025) – Nat Baker, a lifelong resident of Horn Lake, former mayor, and law enforcement veteran, has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Horn Lake in the upcoming Republican Primary.

“After much prayer and thoughtful discussion with my family, I’m excited to announce my decision to run for mayor of Horn Lake once again,” said Baker. “With my experience and the relationships I’ve built during my previous terms as mayor, I am ready to lead from day one.”

Baker continued, “My wife Pam and I have two children, Mandy (who is deceased) and Heather, along with four grandchildren: Austin, Kolby, Chelsey, and Kaylee. I want to make sure Horn Lake remains a safe and prosperous place for families like mine, where everyone can make this community their home.”

As Mayor, Baker is committed to ensuring the safety of the city. “I will stand firm in supporting and fully funding our law enforcement officers. With over 30 years in law enforcement and having served as mayor before, I know better than anyone the importance of strong public safety. I will ensure the Horn Lake Police and Fire Departments have the resources, modern equipment, and the competitive compensation packages needed to recruit and retain the best personnel to serve our community.”

Drawing on his diverse knowledge, Baker stated, “As a businessman, I understand the critical role small businesses play in creating jobs. I will work to minimize unnecessary regulations and government interference to ensure Horn Lake is the most business-friendly city in Mississippi. Additionally, I will fight to protect our citizens from mandates that infringe upon civil liberties or harm small businesses.”

During his previous terms as mayor, Baker successfully led the city through a period of historic growth, all while maintaining a balanced budget. “I will bring the same effective leadership back to the mayor’s office, ensuring that the growth of Horn Lake does not negatively impact the quality of life for current taxpayers. I am committed to transparency and accessibility, continuing to operate the city government in an open, accountable manner.”

Baker is eager to exit retirement and once again serve the community that has been his family’s home for generations. The Republican Primary election will take place on April 1st.
